Profile
NuSun is the National Sunflower Association's mid-oleic variety, bred as a compromise between conventional sunflower (66% PUFA) and high oleic (9% PUFA). At 65% MUFA and 26% PUFA, it delivers approximately 150 fry cycles — a 40% improvement over conventional sunflower. Widely used in US snack food manufacturing. Available in foodservice channels but less common than high oleic sunflower for restaurant frying.

Moderate improvement over conventional sunflower — MUFA up from 20% to 65%, PUFA down from 66% to 26%. A meaningful step toward oxidative stability without reaching high oleic levels.
Sustainability
US-grown, primarily in the Dakotas, Kansas, and Colorado. NuSun is the National Sunflower Association's trademarked mid-oleic variety. Low environmental footprint.
